The Gold Rush brought many immigrants from China to work as laborers on many important projects.  The history of these times would have been forgotten with time if the Chinese Cultural Center had not been built.  The history of these 19th Century immigrants is preserved for all to learn from in the Chinese Cultural Center. 

The center was built with private donations and aid from the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of China, the center includes a Confucian temple and an exposition room housing cultural artifacts, paintings and rare architectural finds.

The Miners Foundry was built in the 1855 era to accommodate the needs of the gold miners in the Sierra foothills.  The miners realized that they needed the proper equipment to extract the gold at a faster rate then digging by hand.  In response to those needs the Foundry was built and grew up with Nevada City which became the greatest gold producing region in the whole world!
