Living Memorial Sculpture Garden – Weed, California
If you are a veteran or the relative of a veteran of war you may find solace in visiting this Living Memorial Sculpture Garden created by a veteran, for veterans. In it he has created a tribute to the thousands of men and women who have served in a combat zone.
The garden will have different meanings to each person that visits since each one has their own feelings to deal with, their own memories that need to be honored and the remembrance of fellow personnel that lost their lives defending the freedom we all prize so dearly.
There are sculptures of the refugees that were abandoned over the years in different wars at different times. There are sculptures of the Korean War and the impressions and memories of this time. Viet Nam, the struggles survived by all that served are honored at the garden.
The POW-MIA sculpture will make you remember the horrors of those times, the fear, rats, rotten food, abusive guards and little chance of survival, but some did, some truly are survivors of atrocities against humanity.
He has created a flute player to symbolize the peace and tranquility he seeks and the female figures are in attitudes which show the freedom that peace can bring.
The location: Hwy 97, one mile north of A12 (west side) in Siskiyou County, California
