California’s Great America Theme Park - Santa Clara, California

Great Fun at California’s Great America Theme Park. California is known to have some of the best theme parks in the world. While quite a few of them are located in Southern California, you can still find some great amusement parks to visit farther north. One of the best known and most visited is California’s Great America Theme Park.

The theme park has gone through several hands in recent years, from Marriot to Paramount and now to Cedar Faire Entertainment Co. who looks to bring even more great times to the park.

You can find the park just outside of Santa Clara, which is close to the San Francisco Bay area. People from around the world love coming to the park because it has so much to offer. California’s Great America is one of those theme parks that have something for everyone in the family, from the thrill seeker to those who simply like to see the shows.

Thrill Rides

You will find some of the best thrill rides at this park. One of the newest rides is called Firefall. On this ride, you ascend to 60 feet and are then twisted and spun through a variety of water and fire special effects.

Another great thrill ride is the Demon rollercoaster. It is one of the older rides in the park, but is still has enough loops and speed to make even the biggest adrenalin addict smile. Flight Deck is a great, suspended coaster that sends you through twists and turns at about 50 miles per hour.

Family Rides

You will find some fun rides for the whole family at the park as well – they don’t just cater to the thrill seekers. You can ride a carousel, a log flume called Logger’s Run that drops you down a 60-foot flume, another water ride called Rip Roaring Rapids, and a whole lot more.

Nickelodeon Central and Kidzville

Here kids will be able to see all of their favorite characters from their favorite shows on Nickelodeon and rides themed to the shows. They can ride Dora’s Dune Buggies, meet Spongebob Squarepants, and head to the top of the Wild Thornberry’s Treetop Lookout.

In Kidzville, the younger crowd can ride a carousel featuring Yogi Bear, Scooby Doo, and Fred Flintstone. They can also check out some mini bumper cars, and Pixie and Dixie’s Swingset.

Shows

Some of the live shows that you will be able to experience at California’s Great America are Dora the Explorer Sing-Along Adventure, and Ed Alonzo: Misfit of Magic.

Boomerang Bay

You can find many great water rides, including tons of slides and a relaxing lagoon in Boomerang Bay.

Everyone who comes to California’s Great America will find a great many things to keep him or her entertained for days.
