While visiting in Los Angeles you may want to take some time and visit some of the fabulous art museums in the area, the Getty Center is one of those that offers quality art from the Middle Ages to the present against a backdrop of dramatic architecture, fabulous gardens for you to stroll through and outstanding views of the city.
The display of artworks including, but not limited to, European paintings, drawings, manuscripts, sculpture and decorative arts along with European and American photographs.
The Getty Center also offers you the opportunity to learn more about the artists that have work on display. For example, Fernando Gallego, born 1443 in Salamanca, Spain and died around 1507. This painter did most of his work on religious works in Spain. He combined the artistic traditions of his native Spain with the influence of Netherlandish painters such as Rogier van der Weyden and Dieric Bouts to produce a Hispoano-Flemish style. He spent most of his artistic life painting altarpieces and other religious works. One of his final commissions, the extensive ceiling of the library of the University of Salamanc, depicted the constellations and signs of the zodiac; this theme was unique for its time.
The J. Paul Getty Museum at the Getty Villa in Malibu opened in 2006asa museum and educational center dedicated to the study of the arts and cultures of ancient Greece, Rome, and Etruria. The Getty Villa has exhibitions, conservation, scholarship, research, and public programs. The Villa houses approximately 44,000 works of art from the Museum’s extensive collection or which over1,200 are on display.

Admission: Free to the Villa. An advance, timed ticket is required. Each Villa ticket allows you to bring up to three children ages 15 and under with you in one car. Please note that this does not apply to tickets for events such as lectures and performances. Parking is $8
