The Los Angeles County Museum of Art has something for Every Art Lover
Located on Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles is the world-renowned Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Founded as a museum in 1961, it is near the George C. Page Museum and the La Brea Tar Pits. The museum contains more than a quarter of a million works from ancient art to modern. Besides artwork, the museum also hosts a number of film and music events throughout the year.

Egyptian Art
The museum has more than 2,000 pieces of art from Egypt. The dates of the pieces range from the fourth millennium B.C. to the seventh century A.D. It includes stone tablets, bronze sculptures of Egyptian deities, and an actual sarcophagus.
Greek and Roman Art
You will also be able to view several hundred pieces of artwork from the ancient Greek, Roman, and Etruscan eras. The pieces range from 600 B.C. to 200 A.D. and include vases, sculptures, glass, and metalwork.
Modern Art
The museum has 250 pieces of modern artwork, most of which are paintings. Many of the paintings come from various places throughout Europe, although the United States and Mexico are represented as well.
African Art
A variety of different styles and types of African art make up the collection in this gallery. You can see masks made of raffia and wood, figures carved from ivory, beaded crowns and much more.

General admission to the museum is $12 for adults, $8 for seniors 62 and over, as well as students 18 and over with a school ID. Children 17 and under are free. On certain days, admission is reduced or even free. Hours vary.
