The Queen Mary – Long Beach California

The Queen Mary.jpgExperience the elegance of an ocean liner on the Queen Mary docked in Long Beach, California. Not only has it been the setting for a season of television show Last Comic Standing, it’s also a great place for dining, entertainment and lodging.

The Queen Mary embarked on its maiden voyage in May of 1936, and when the war started it was pressed into service in 1940 by the military, transporting injured troops and even carrying Winston Churchill. In 1947 the Queen Mary resumed its previous passenger service, and continued in this fashion for the next twenty years until it was retired and sold to the city of Long Beach.

You can experience the British ocean liner by booking a Behind the Scenes Guided Tour. After the tour, you’ll surely have worked up a big hunger and can dine in one of the six restaurants. If you’re looking for an elegant dinner, try Sir Winston’s. To go along with its great views of the ocean, you may want to dine at Chelsea which offers delectable seafood. If you just want snacks or sandwiches, try The Promenade Cafe, and if you just want to sip a few cocktails, you could find yourself at the Observation Bar. A Sunday brunch is also available.

If you like to combine your dining and entertainment, you can do that at the Broadway/Cabaret style show at Tibbies Cabaret. When looking for separate entertainment, laugh along with the cast at Laugh Is Hope Comedy Club, where you can present your business card to gain entry for half price. If you’re into more risque entertainment, visit Vamp: The Lounge for a burlesque show set to music from the 1930s and today.
