My parents want to experience the Zeppelin this summer and I thought it would be a good 55th anniversary gift to give them. How do I find out about gift certificates and discounts? Any information would be appreciated!

Rancho Sante Fe does have a lot of history. It's close to downtown, Del Mar and the Del Mar Race Track and tons of shopping. There are great schools nearby too. Great exercise, etc.

I loved going to Mammoth Bluesapaloosa until this year. They have outgrown themselves and need some serious crowd control. First, couldn't even see the stage after the first 20 minutes so many people got out of their chairs and went up to stand in front of the stage. Second, this year they implemented blocking off the street and encouraged people on their website to take the trolleys. However, they had no one after the concert (at least on Friday - I didn't go back on Saturday) directing people as to where the trolleys would stop nor were there any designated lines. Once a trolley showed up about every 1/2 hour or so, it was a free for all to get on the trolley. I got hurt in the process - not seriously but enough that I was pretty unhappy for awhile. Until the City of Mammoth and the Bluesapaloosa organizers get their act together in terms of crowd control, I wouldn't recommend going to this event. If they do get organized to accommodate large crowds, then it would be a wonderful time of live blues under the mountain stars and worth attending, but not currently.

My family and I live near Honey Run, and we always make a point each year to make it to the pancake breakfast they host. That way you can walk all the way across, since they open up the gate. The pancakes are really good, and you get to eat them on the bridge, which makes it even better.

Spring may be the best time to head to Mammoth, especially this year with all the snow. The crowds are smaller, there are a ton of other things to do off the slopes depending on how late in the spring you go to Mammoth. There isn't a whole lot open now but they are still skiing top to bottom (Climax to the Broadway base) and will probably finish out the season with top to bottom skiing open. If ya didn't make it this spring, keep an eye on the snowfall next year and if they get a lot of snow, head up in the spring. Lodging is often cheaper then and temperatures are often not bone chillingly cold too.

Moonridge Zoo is the best. They care for injured animals.

We cooked for a fundraiser they had. The people that work there are wonderful.

They need to raise funds to move the zoo across the lake to the Big Bear Discovery Center. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I wanted to fly over London on the Zeppelin last year, but poor weather conditions resulted in cancellations. Since I was a lad. It had always been an intention of mine to fly on an Airship after constantly watching the Goodyear Blimp flying over my house in those hot summers of the 70's. Well, last month, my dream came true. I was in San Francisco and had the chance to fly.
I must say that It was well worth the 30 year wait. A fantastic experience, flying in the beautiful blue sky over San Francisco Bay. I would have liked to have flown over Tower Bridge, but the Golden Gate Bridge and surrounding scenery is breathtaking. I would like to thank Airship Ventures for a truely unforgetable flight.

Thank you for your honesty.

It's late March now, and that means you can double up on activities: skiing at the Mt. Shasta Ski Park or up on the mountain, and then a spring bike ride on our quiet roads. It's also time to think about spring rafting trips on the Upper Sacramento River and the big adventure rivers - the Cal Salmon and Scott Rivers where class IV and V rapids will have your heart pounding all day long. Castle Crags is now the place to go hiking to spring waterfalls and early wildflowers. It' a glorious time, so come see us!

Hello,
I am curious about the Visalia laws of the 19th. century that restrict, or forbid any asian from living, working, etc...... Or...well you said speak your mind; how about any laws saying no Chinese are allowed to do WHATEVER, and is still a law today but not enforced!

Thank you,

I used to live near here. My family owns the land on the hill across from the entrance of this bridge and most of the area formally known as DiamondVille. This bride was nearly lost several times over the years due to flooding. It has also been featured in many movies, music videos, and a few television shows. It is known locally as a place to propose to your sweety. You can no longer fully cross the bridge as there is a gate on the back end of it. If you cross the creek and go up behind it, you can still see wagon tracks from the stage coaches and wagon haulers that ran between Chico and the mountain communities. It is a nice place to take a dip during the 100+ degree summer days in the area or to have a picnic lunch in the shade of the spans. If you have not been there, go see it. It is worth the five mile drive up into the canyon, the views along the way are so pretty, especially in the fall. Just beware of snakes known to lurk in the cooler areas in the shade.

It is certainly a most impressive sight, a spectacle, to see this ship as it glides over the city, across the bay, and pretty much anywhere you find yourself when you look up and see it. At $500. a head, it will be a while before I get aboard it, but you never know. The Hindenburg, by the way, was not the last airship to be seen over the US: The US navy operated several airships, all of which met untimely ends, albeit without the flames of the Hindenburg. One big reason this airship is here, is the giant airship hangers at Moffet Field, where it is berthed; hangars built for those very navy airships.

I had the real pleasure of flying in this airship over London earlier this year. After offering "flightseeing trips" for only six weeks in the UK it was shipped to the USA via Rotterdam. Our flight was up the River Thames and we flew over The Dome, Greenwich, the Thames Barrier,Tower Bridge,The Tower Of London,The London Eye, Westminster Abbey, The Houses Of Parliament and many other landmarks of London. The flight was very smooth and once up to 1000 feet we were able to walk around the cabin and take photo's through open windows, so no glass to distort the pictures. I feel very privileged to now have remarkable photo's of London, taken by me from this Zeppelin Airship, to remember a very special day.
I envy all of you who now have the chance to see San Francisco from this remarkable airship, an experience you wont forget.

I love the idea of your museum. We have at my dad's ranch, a great example of American ingenuity in the form of a handbuilt tractor. It;'s an orchard style tractor powered by a large Clinton pull start engine (we guess about 7 hp), vastly superior to the familiar Briggs and Stratton style engine. It's sports dual Model 'A' tandom mounted transmissions for many forward and reverse speeds, along with dual brakes for the rear wheels attached to a narrowed rear end (probably about a '48 Ford). It's got an updraught carborator and a disc and scoop and hydraulics. This is a full service tractor with a full-size seat. It needs reworking and restoring. I've used it and in it's prime it was very strong and useful.

We are able to be reached at (916) 863-1069

San Francisco Tour of Alcatraz Island, California

Alcatraz Island is a fascinating place to visit along California’s coast. The history of the federal penitentiary here including its famous inmates and escapes is intriguing. Although this is what draws many visitors to the Island in the first place, they leave with a much deeper appreciation of the unique role Alcatraz Island has played throughout history.

Alcatraz was also a significant military site before the penitentiary made it famous, and it took on new importance during the All Tribes Indian occupation from 1969 to 1971. You will learn about all these intriguing aspects of the Island’s history plus more during your visit to Alcatraz.

Today Alcatraz is an important natural area that supports a huge population of seabirds. It is a beautiful place to visit that provides spectacular views of the Bay. Alcatraz enjoys a well-deserved reputation as an outstanding attraction, and visitors are advised to book their tickets for this popular destination at least a week in advance.
