Lodi Wine Country – California

Nestled between San Francisco Bay Area and the Foothills of the Sierra Nevada this area offers a relaxed pace, beautiful vineyards and exquisite wines.  The classic Mediterranean climate with its warm days and cool evenings provides the perfect environment for the great wines produced in this area.

There are large and small wineries in this area, some new and some have been around and producing quality wines for years.  There is a possibility of you going to a wine tasting room and sipping wine with the winemaker who is the fifth generation Lodi grape grower.

The area is filled with both young and old vines.  The older vines, especially the famous Zinfandel, spread their roots deep into the sandy soils.  You’ll notice the individual pattern of “head-pruned” vines.  Younger vines such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Chardonnay are easily recognized by their long trellised rows.

The wines from this area are full of flavor and yet are soft and supple on the palate.

The Wine & Visitor Center has an expansive tasting bar featuring a wide selection of regional wines, interactive and educational exhibits on grape growing and winemaking, and a gift shop.  There are interactive exhibits where you can take an aerial tour of the Lodi region and zoom in on your favorite winery.  Experience how the winegrower uses Mother Nature to create the best possible wine each vintage.  Learn what wine goes with which food.  You will be able to enjoy an educational tasting as you are guided through a sampling of Lodi wines.  The Wine & Visitor Center has information for you on places to stay, where to eat and family activities.
